Canada Club Dinner with Lyse Doucet and Louise Penny

We are delighted to invite you to the Canada Club’s autumn dinner on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. This dinner brings together two exceptional Canadian voices, Louise Penny and Lyse Doucet, whose work has shaped literature, journalism, and public conversation for decades.

• Lyse Doucet is the BBC’s Chief International Correspondent and one of Canada’s most respected journalists. Her reporting from conflict zones and global political flashpoints has earned her the Order of Canada, an OBE, and numerous international journalism awards. Her book, The Finest Hotel in Kabul: A People's History of Afghanistan was released last year and won the 2026 Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction, the 2026 Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer Prize for Non-Fiction, and is an 'instant Sunday Times #1 Bestseller'.
• Louise Penny is one of Canada’s most celebrated authors, best known for her internationally acclaimed Chief Inspector Gamache novels. Her work has earned numerous awards, including multiple Agatha and Anthony Awards, and her books have been translated into more than two dozen languages. Louise’s latest Gamache novel, Miss Walcott’s Ghost, will be published in October. 

Having two amazing Canadian women speaking to us is a unique experience for our members. Our distinguished guests will join us for dinner and a conversation about their work, their experiences in writing and reporting from across the globe, their friendship, and the stories that have shaped their careers, with time for audience questions.
